The British Ministrada Gymnastics Festival
75 Gymnasts & 60 spectators set off at 7.30 am for one of the top festivals in the Gymnastics calendar "The British Ministrada Gymnastics Festival" which was held at The Everton Park Gymnastics Centre Liverpool on Saturday 15th November 2003.
The team consisted of 42 members of The Gym Centre Gymnastics Club and 33 children from Auther Dye and Monkscroft Primary Schools Hestersway.
The schools were invited to join The Gym Centre School Club Link Programme in the way of a thank you to Hestersway for taking us in at The Oasis Youth Centre last January when we were desperately looking for a venue.
The 15 minute Gymnastic routine incorporated, fast exciting tumbling, spectacular human towers and exquisite dancing to music from the Last Emperor, Moulin Rouge, and The Prince of Egypt. The routine was creatively put together, by our very experienced choreographers Victoria Newman and her sister Nicola Grisman. The sister's have been Gymnasts and coaches with The Gym Centre for many years and now run their own after school clubs at Moncroft & Arthur Dye respectively.
There were 30 clubs from all over The United Kingdom taking part though our team was the largest of all the teams entered. The other teams having between 20 & 40 Gymnasts in them.
Although the build up to the event was very hard work, with practises and parents /teachers/helpers costume making, judging by the big smiles on every ones face, a great day was had by all.
We hope that we have given all who took part, a day that they will always remember.
This was a non-competitive festival, to create confidence, self esteem, and to show children that sport is FUN.Yours
